UPDATE 12-13-05 A great big “THANKYOU” for all the donations and support given to Sylvester. Sylvester has made an amazing recovery and is an amazing dog. Sylvester came to the program through a veterinarians office. His owner had brought him in to be euthanized because he had heartworms. Sylvester was severely underweight and refused to eat. LSBR decided they were going to give Sylvester every chance they possible could and rely on donations to cover the mounting bills that he would incur. Sylvester has had IV fluids, an Ultrasound with aspiration, Chest X-rays, blood work, fecal tests and over ten different medications. Finally, Sylvester is stable enough to take his to take his first steps to becoming heart worm negative. It has been a long road for Sylvester but he has captured the hearts of all he encounters. He is a wonderful dog and wanted his foster mom to tell everyone that he received the best Christmas wish ever, the gift of life with people who love him. He wanted all his human angels to know how much it means that LSBR saved him and allowed him to regain his health and play in the sun with his foster brothers and sisters. He is grateful, happy and safe! ORIGINAL STORY: Sylvester is a special case for LSBR. Sylvester is an owner surrender who was rescued in a horrible state of emaciation. Upon entry into our program Sylvester was so weak and depleted he required IV fluids. His blood work showed some sort of infection as well as some possible Liver damage. Since receiving medication and IV fluids Sylvester has regained his appetite and is beginning the road to recovery. However, additional testing is required to determine the full extent of his condition and best possible treatment. Usually, we ask the wonderful people who view our website to help us by giving a deserving dog a loving forever home. In this case, we are asking those same people to give Sylvester a chance at life. What Sylvester needs most are donations that will allow us to perform additional tests and continue his prescribed medications. Sylvester has an amazing sweetness and charm about him and we believe his recovery is just around the corner.
